about me

Well first things first, my name is Joel C. McClure and I am a quarter of a century young. I am originally from Springfield, Ohio and the youngest of four brothers. I served 5 years in the United States Navy as a Master at Arms and was honorably discharged in 2013. I returned home after my service to spend time with family, friends and to acclimate myself back into civilian life. Once I felt stable enough, I made the move to Honolulu, Hawaii to further my education. I began my academic career at Hawaii Pacific University in winter of 2013 studying Computer Science. However, after spring of 2015 I realized that Computer Science was not what I thought it to be. So I changed my major to Integrated Multimedia to better serve and prepare for my career endeavors.

At first I thought Computer Science was for me and in a way it still is. However, a computer science degree is tailored for a builder over designer mindset. Imagine if you will a construction site for say a house. Computer Science majors are the ones who put the house together, lay the foundation and build the frame. Essentially they follow a blueprint pattern or maybe they are free form building, either way your end goal is a built house. Once the house is built you call the Multimedia majors to design the décor of the house, really make it unique and standout if you want. Metaphor holding, I am more of designer not a builder. I am sure most other media majors would agree to that statement when applied to themselves.

Outside my schooling and interest in the Multimedia field, I am aspiring voice actor. What is a voice actor exactly you ask? Well let me give you a quick rundown. You know that voice over you hear during commercials? Or that voice that you may hear between songs on Spotify? How about all those voices you hear when you watch an animated film or cartoon show? Or even all those different voices you hear while playing a video game? You think of all those things? Good, because that’s just the beginning of voice over work. I have always had a dream to be an actor since I can remember but as I got older I became aware of voice acting. I fell in love with that type of the art form in acting because of how fun it really is! Making up your own voices, to mimicking others to straight up making sound effects the possibilities are endless with voice acting. Adding on to that is all the available roles and the ease of access to playing a multitude of them simultaneously. I personally love everything about it and see my future being a part of it.
